Activision and Toys for Bob announced that Crash Team Rumble will be free to play this weekend.
From Friday (11) at 2 pm until Monday (14), also at 2 pm (Brasília time), PlayStation and Xbox players will be able to play Crash Team Rumble at no additional cost.
Trial players will be placed into matches by the same users who own the full game. As a result, during this limited time, players can play an unlimited number of games – and all items, characters and XP gained during the free trial will carry over to the full version, should you decide to purchase it.
Alongside this, Toys for Bob commented on the state of the game and what’s next. See the full message below (via the official website):
Hello again Bandicoots! Executive Producer Steve Ricossa is here to bring you a state-of-the-game update.
As we wrap up another month of Season 1, we hope you enjoyed all the fun new additions to Crash Team Rumble, which included a lot of new stuff – the first limited-time mode – Zap Trap, the first new map – Bogged Down, the first round of balance changes, and most recently, the first new power – Sticky TNT. Also, shout out to the mid-season update, which addressed a pile of community issues, ensuring the most solid gameplay experience possible. With these updates, along with our weekend events, July had a calendar full of content! And as players jump in and battle it out, we here at TFB have been talking to you in the community through our social channels, getting feedback and working hard to improve the current game and future game experiences.
Now that players have had some time with new characters like Ripper, we wanted to address some longstanding comments about hero and power balance. A handful of nerfs and buffs have been rolled out, and we’re watching how those changes play out. True balance requires time and attention from an internal development team and the game team that observes and interacts with the community. As we continue to refine the game, we’re committed to giving it our time and attention – this will be an ongoing process as we continue to add content as well.
As we approach this final leg of the season, we have a few more exciting things in store! First, N.Gin will be released in the coming weeks (early release 8/24, full release 9/12), and we’re just as excited to get it live as the community is to play it! It will be unlocked via a similar event as the Ripper, but with some modest changes based on community feedback – i.e. having the main reason to appear in the unlockable event on Day 1, encouraging more event participation for the best conditions of matchmaking. In addition to new content, we will be offering a free trial to the PlayStation and Xbox communities to let people see firsthand what you, the community, have been experiencing and enjoying over the last few months.
Speaking of the future, the team has been hard at work on Season 2 for quite some time. In our conversations with you in the community, the most requested update was “modes” – more ways to play and interact with this game, heroes and powers. More details coming soon, but I’ll be giving you a preview of two of our key features for Season 2. Are you ready to party? I hope so, because we’ll be releasing a four-player co-op mode called Party Mode, as well as introducing a plethora of experimental cycling modes through a feature we call TFB Labs. Again, this is incredibly exciting and there will be a lot more to talk about in the near future – stay tuned!
Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing you in-game!
