The artistic poster for the Festas do Mar de Cascais was presented this Tuesday. There are dozens of artists and musical bands and many other activities in the summer festival that presents itself as being “the closest to the Atlantic” and which will take place from the 24th to the 27th of this month and from the 31st of August to the 3rd of September.
Back is the bipartite model, debuted last year and which those responsible for Cascais City Council (CMC) consider to have been a success. The dozens of shows will thus be divided into two stages, the main one, in the middle of Baía, and the Sagres stage, in the vicinity of the Citadel.
In a statement, the municipality of Cascais announces a poster with many names in Portuguese music. On the main stage will be names such as Miguel Araújo, Mariza, Pedro Abrunhosa, Excesso, Diogo Piçarra, Fernando Cunha & Friends – 40 years of career, among many others.
The opening of the main stage “will always be performed by artists and bands connected to Cascais, a unique opportunity to showcase local talent on the most famous stage in the municipality”, say those responsible for CMC.
“The Festas do Mar continue to privilege music in Portuguese, bringing together renowned names with new talents and local artists. To compose the festival of local culture, gastronomy and handicrafts will also have a prominent place in the various spaces between Cidadela and Jardim Visconde da Luz”, adds the municipality’s statement.
The last day will be, as is tradition, dedicated to the Cascais Symphony Orchestra, “which will once again have the Bay singing with the Best of Festas do Mar, a moment of contagious joy in which everyone can participate”. All the main concerts will be broadcast live on RFM radio, the local authority’s partner at parties.
The procession of Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes, one of the highlights of the Festivities of the Sea, takes place on the 3rd of September, at 3 pm and to end the celebrations there will be the traditional fireworks display.
Back at the festival there is also the Viver Cascais space with exclusive places for residents, workers and students in the municipality. “To take advantage of this benefit, all you have to do is show your valid Viver Cascais Card (physical or digital), and a Viver Cascais bracelet will be awarded for each day of the concert. 450 bracelets will be distributed per day to access the exclusive Viver Cascais space”, whose card can be requested on the municipality’s website.
